Our focus is on teamwork, learning, and lots of fun !

Juniors will benefit from well-planned group sessions and practices adapted to their level of development.

And they’ll learn from some of the best tennis instructors in Ottawa !

  • Progressive training approach for a variety of levels and ages (5-7, 8-10, 11-12) including a competitive stream for ages 11-16.

  • Small groups with optimal player-to-coach ratios (6:1, except the Competitive junior clinics which have a 4:1 ratio)

  • 1-hour lessons either twice a week or once a week

  • Clinics run for 6 weeks with an additional week scheduled for rained-out lessons.

  • Clinics do not run on Victoria Day, Canada Day, the first Monday in August, or Labour Day.

Clinics are open to members and non-members.

 

2024 Junior and Family Club Membership Benefits:

  • Priority clinic registration – 2 weeks before non-members.

  • For access to advance registration for members, login to CourtReserve

  • Lower clinic fees than non-members.

  • Supervised Junior Tennis play on Saturday mornings, court booking privileges, and access to private lessons.

 

Starting March 1 new 2024 Junior Club memberships are available ($50 per child), even if there is a waitlist for other Club memberships.

 

If you don’t purchase a 2024 Club membership, you can still sign up for the clinics through the free Restricted Instructional category of membership starting March 15.

 

We offer schedules with plenty of flexibility to plan your summer.  Don’t delay, clinics fill up quickly!

 

Spring (starting week of May 12)

5-7 years old Red Ball 1

  1. Once a week at Mantha Park - Tuesday at 5:00 pm.

  2. Twice a week at Cumberland Tennis Club- Wednesday at 6:00 pm & Saturday at 10:00 am.

  3. Once a week at Chapel Hill Park – Wednesday at 5:00 pm

Designed for the beginner tennis player who has never played tennis or has minimal-some playing experience.  Lessons will include an introduction to tennis, the fundamentals of tennis through drills, games and incorporating it into matchplay. The lessons will include basic techniques of the forehand, backhand, volleys/overheads and serve.  Lessons will be based on the Tennis Canada “Learn to Play” program which is a tennis curriculum for the fundamental stage of development. It also encourages good teamwork, hard work, fun and early success!

This level is equivalent to the 1.0-2.0 level on the Tennis Canada self-rating guide.

8-10 years old Orange Ball 1

Designed for the beginner tennis player who has never played tennis or has minimal-some playing experience.  Lessons will include an introduction to tennis, the fundamentals of tennis through drills, games and incorporating it into matchplay. The lessons will include basic techniques of the forehand, backhand, volleys/overheads and serve.  Lessons will be based on the Tennis Canada “Learn to Play” program which is a tennis curriculum for the fundamental stage of development. It also encourages good teamwork, hard work, fun and early success!

This level is equivalent to the 1.0-2.0 level on the Tennis Canada self-rating guide.

  1. Once a week at Cumberland Tennis Club - Tuesday at 5:00 pm.

  2. Twice a week at Marsha Park - Monday & Thursday at 5:00 pm.

  3. Twice a week at Mantha Park – Monday & Friday at 5:00 pm.

11-12 years old Green Ball 1

Designed for the beginner tennis player who has never played tennis or has minimal-some playing experience.  Lessons will include an introduction to tennis, the fundamentals of tennis through drills, games and incorporating it into matchplay. The lessons will include basic techniques of the forehand, backhand, volleys/overheads and serve.  Lessons will be based on the Tennis Canada “Learn to Play” program which is a tennis curriculum for the fundamental stage of development. It also encourages good teamwork, hard work, fun and early success!

This level is equivalent to the 1.0-2.0 level on the Tennis Canada self-rating guide.

  4. Twice a week at Marsha Park - Monday & Thursday at 6:00 pm.

11-14 years old Competitive*

Designed for the competitive tennis player looking for increased level of training and advanced lessons. Lessons will include advanced level tactics, techniques, footwork and strategies.

Students will improve their ability to control all dimensions of their game including: consistency, shot depth, shot direction, spins and speed. Students will have the opportunity to execute the tactics, techniques and strategies learned into various games and match play.

This clinic is recommended for players who have extensive tennis experience and can maintain a 10-ball rally on both the forehand and backhand and have developed consistency on serve, volley and overhead smashes.

This level is equivalent to the 3.0 level on the Tennis Canada self-rating guide.

  1. Twice a week at Marsha Park - Monday & Thursday at 7:00 pm.

14-16 years old Competitive*

Designed for the competitive tennis player looking for increased level of training and advanced lessons. Lessons will include advanced level tactics, techniques, footwork and strategies.
