Court Rules & Etiquette

As a tennis or pickleball player, it is important that you know and follow the rules and practice the courtesy of good sportsmanship and etiquette on court. The following rules will ensure a better playing experience for all members.

  1. Members should display their OTC shoe tags.  Visiting players should register at the clubhouse.

  2. Members can book courts at the front desk, over the phone or online. All juniors have same court booking privileges as adult members.

  3. Although the club does not have rigid policy on clothing, proper sportswear is encouraged. A shirt must be worn at all times.

  4. Proper tennis or pickleball non-marking footwear should be worn at all times – non tennis or pickleball footwear can damage the court surface and increases risk of injury.

  5. Eye protection is strongly encouraged and highly recommended when playing pickleball.

  6. No profanities, yelling or screaming  while on court.

  7. Cell phones must be silenced.

  8. No food, drinks (other than water and sports drinks) or chewing gum on courts.

  9. If you are around the courts but not playing, please keep noises to an appropriate level and respect members who are playing.

  10. Show respect to all players at all times.

  11. Before starting play, ensure the court is free from hazards (extra balls, cans or other debris).

  12. Only cross at the back of occupied courts and between points.  To minimize the level of disruption, please use the side gate to access courts #3 and #4.

  13. Do not retrieve a ball from another court while their point in still in progress. Please wait until they finish their point.

  14. Please keep the courts clean by picking up all balls and throwing away any trash.

  15. Please return the pickleball nets in the storage area immediately after play.

  16. Always be safe. Do not participate in any behavior that would risk injury to anyone else, such as throwing or hitting balls when not asked to, throwing your racquet or any other object on or off the court.

  17. Have fun! The entire objective of playing tennis and pickleball, aside from being good aerobic exercise, is to have fun. You can follow these rules of etiquette and still have a good time on the courts - the players on adjacent courts will appreciate it.

No skateboards/scooters allowed. Only tennis and pickleball are played on the courts!
